Coastguard Kaipara Inc. is seeking funding from sponsors for the purpose of building a new operational facility at Springs Road, Parakai.

The current facilities have served their purpose; but have imposed limitations in terms of functional, operational and financial viability in the longer term. This new opportunity has presented itself – next to a new all tide ramp and wharf the Unit has been offered extremely generous lease terms from Auckland Council with full support from the local Iwi.

The location at the end of Springs Road offers the Unit the ability to respond quicker than we can currently offer, being significantly closer to the mouth of the Kaipara River. It removes the difficulty of low tide launching and retrieval.

The southern regions of the Kaipara harbour are becoming busier with the expansion of Auckland City further to the North-west. There are already large areas of land being developed into new suburbs in and around the existing towns of Helensville, Parakai, Kaukapakapa, Huapai & Kumeu.
